You can use the full product without an account. While signed out, your work stays in your browser. If you sign in, the work you choose to save is connected to your account so you can continue on other devices and recover it later.

When you do not sign in

Your college shortlist, application plan, financial aid plan, dates, and career interests are saved in your browser’s local storage. They are not backed up, they do not follow you to another device, and clearing your browser data deletes them.

The aid workspace deliberately holds no Social Security numbers, no account passwords, no tax figures, no bank balances and no uploaded documents. It records whether a step is done, not what the step said.

What leaves your browser

Pricing a college takes one request. When you choose an income band, your browser asks our server for the net price at that band for the colleges you are looking at, and the server answers with a figure rounded to the nearest thousand dollars.

That request carries the band and the colleges. It does not carry your income: the site never asks for it. You pick one of five published bands, and what travels is the midpoint of that band, a figure we compute rather than one you gave us. The request carries no name, no email address and no identifier for you, and it is not stored against you.

Pages, typefaces and data files are served by Cloudflare Pages, which keeps ordinary server logs. It is not given anything you typed.

Signing in, if you choose to

Everything works without an account. Signing in is free and lets your saved work follow you between devices, survive a cleared browser, and remain available through offer season. It also lets the site recognize a season card if you choose to buy one.

Sign-in goes through Google. We receive an account identifier and may receive the email address attached to that sign-in. We do not receive contacts, calendars, files, or your password. Your password is never typed into this site and never reaches it.

A signed-in session is held as a token in your browser’s local storage. This site sets no cookies at all, which is why you have never been asked to accept any.

Closing an account deletes the account, its sessions, and everything saved against it. It is a button on your account page, takes effect immediately, and cannot be undone.

Analytics and advertising

There are none. No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising scripts, no session recording, no fingerprinting, and nothing shared with a data broker or an advertising network. Page views are not recorded and visitors are not profiled.

Students under 18

This site is for families and is not directed at children. It collects nothing from anyone that would identify a student: no name, no address, no phone number, no school name, no date of birth. The tools ask for a graduation year, a state and academic figures, and those stay on the device.

An account requires a Google sign-in, which sets its own minimum age. An account created by a young child can be closed from its own account page, which deletes it.

Asking us to delete something

If you have an account, close it from your account page. That deletes the account, its sessions and everything saved against it, immediately and without a form to fill in or a reason you need to give. It is the whole procedure because it is the whole of what we hold.

If you do not have an account, nothing is held here to delete. Your list, your plan, and your aid work are in your own browser, and clearing your browser data removes them.

Where local law gives you a right to see, correct, export or delete what is held about you, that right is honored wherever you live, and the same button is how it is exercised.

If this changes

A change affecting what is collected or where it goes is dated here before it takes effect. Nothing collected under this version will be used in a way this version does not describe.
